World Hunger can be Solved Biblically

Ever stop and take a moment to think about World Hunger? Is there a solution for it? Can we actually end World Hunger? In the Pentateuch (first 5 books of the Bible), God set forth a solution for people to not go hungry.

Lev 23:22

And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not wholly reap the corners of thy field, neither shalt thou gather the gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them for the poor, and for the sojourner: I am Jehovah your God.

God set up a way for the poor and the foreigner to be taken care of. Similar to socialism, there is a small amount of wealth redistribution. The rich (land owners in that day) were to set aside parts of their field that would be used by the poor for food. This wasn't a simple handout, but rather, the poor had to work for their food by harvesting what they needed.

Translated into today's world, this could be the equivalent of keeping random tasks that people can do in exchange for pay or services.

What if businesses did this? What if they left tasks undone so that the poor could support their family? Not a hand out, but a hand up. How would society change?
